Review on Samsung Galaxy SIII Smartphone

With the launch of SIII, Samsung has introduced a new commodore to its fleet of smartphone business. With Samsung holding a as big as 25% revenue in the entire smartphone industry having toppled biggies like Blackberry and Nokia, SIII is an interesting gadget if not the most anticipated one as the iPhone lineup by rival Apple. A lot of SIII is comparable to iPhone 4S as it is the only other high priced smartphone that competes with Samsung in both, features and aesthetics.

With the launch of SIII, Samsung has introduced a new commodore to its fleet of smartphone business. This is quite crucial considering that smartphone market has bubbled into something big outwitting even the sale of personal computers. The candybar phone form factor has recieved some negative criticism on the thin backplate and plastic body. But there are not many who would play with a thin backplate fearing of it breaking. Also, the metal rim on body side panels gives it a robust look, so no complaints here.

The SIII boasts of 4 cameras on the phone. Only 2 of these are user operated, 8 megapixel primary camera at the back and the 1.9 megapixel secondary camera in the front. The remaining 2 cameras situated in the front on top enables the phone to detect any eyes looking at the phone, in absence of which the phone autolocks itself or dims the brightness on screen display thereby saving power. The 4.8-in screen size is huge when compared to its Apple rival. The iPhone 4S fits completely (screen and body panel) into the screen of the Samsung SIII. Comparison wise, a paragraph that displays 5 lines on an iPhone 4S now shows as much as 7 lines on the SIII. The battery life on the phone is good and can get you an entire day on a single 100% charge as the power-save mode comes in handy.

In terms of convenience, Samsung SIII is a little too complicated with some basic features buried deep beyond the defaults. How many users actually change the default settings now? The Andriod 4.0 on the phone is not a pure Ice-Cream Sandwich OS as Samsung overlays it with its own TouchWiz. So simpler things like going straight to the camera option on a locked screen, which on an Apple, Windows or a pure ICS phone would require just a tap of a button, requires a combination of puzzle movements on the Samsung SIII and complicates the simplicity.

All in all, Samsung SIII appeals and manages to get the attention in the huge sea of smartphones available in the market and is certainly giving the iPhones and HTC One X’s a run for their money.
